The Kashia lived in lands that extended from the Gualala River in the North to Duncan\u2019s Point south of the Russian River.\u00a0 From the West, Kashia territory extended from the pacific coast over coastal mountain ranges down the Warm Springs Creek to the confluence of Dry Creek, thirty miles inland.\u00a0\u00a0 An estimated 1,500 people inhabited this area pre-contact, and migrated seasonally throughout this territory to take full advantage of the resources for their subsistence.\u00a0 By 1870, only 3 villages remained and by 1914, the United States Federal Government began the process of taking land into Trust, establishing the Stewarts Point Rancheria.<\/p>\n<p>The Kashia Band of Pomo Indians has approximately 860 members, with the majority of Tribal members residing in Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake and Napa Counties which is the service area for the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians of Stewarts point Rancheria.\u00a0 The Kashia Band of Pomo Indians has a Tribal Government Office located in Santa Rosa, California.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-1330","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.stewartspoint.org\/wp2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1330","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.stewartspoint.org\/wp2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.stewartspoint.org\/wp2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.stewartspoint.org\/wp2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.stewartspoint.org\/wp2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1330"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.stewartspoint.org\/wp2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1330\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1331,"href":"https:\/\/www.stewartspoint.org\/wp2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1330\/revisions\/1331"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.stewartspoint.org\/wp2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1330"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
